Fyzabad man leaves for J'ouvert, returns to find home ransacked

Fyzabad police are investigating a report where businessman's house was burgled of $10,000 in cash as well as a quantity of jewellery after he left for J'ouvert celebrations on Carnival Monday.

According to reports, the victim, a used car dealer of Colley Street, Fyzabad, told police that he had secured his home on Monday morning and went away.

He returned at 11:00 am that day and discovered that the premises had been ransacked.

A check revealed a sum of $10,000 currency, one gold beyra with marking ‘Melina’, two silver rings with the letter ‘A’ engraved in each, and two Spanish link gold chains to be missing from a draw in a dresser drawer value to be ascertained.

A  team of officers from the Fyzabad Police  Station, including crime scene unit officials, visited the scene.
