Ganja fields destroyed in Princes Town

Officers of the Southern Division Task Force destroyed several fields of marijuana in Princes Town.

The eradication exercise took place between 11:00 am and 5:00 pm Saturday and saw officers trek an estimated half a mile into a forested area off Nagee Road, Princes Town.

The officers had received key intelligence that drugs were being grown in the area.

Relative to the information the officers made their way to the location, and they came across at least three fields of marijuana.

There were several fully grown marijuana trees as well as seedlings.

At the location, the officers also found a camp.

No persons were near the fields or the camp at the time of its discovery and as a result, no arrests were made.

However, police said that they have intelligence which may lead to the detention of a suspect in the near future.
