Every effort will be made to ensure that employees of the Education Facilities Company Limited (EFCL) receive outstanding salaries and allowances as soon as possible.

Employees have reportedly not been paid since March.

Speaking in the Senate on Tuesday, Education Minister Anthony Garcia revealed that the monthly commitment for the payment of salaries to the 62 employees of EFCL, plus operational expenses is around $1.9 million.

He explained that the EFCL earns income through the application of management fees that are paid for the services rendered.

Garcia said it is the Ministry's intention to continue the remittance of monies to the EFCL, through the mechanism upon the receipt of the necessary releases of funds.

The Minister said he could not give a definite date for the outstanding payments to the employees, but assured that every effort will be made to ensure that those employees are paid in the shortest possible time.
