Police Commissioner Gary Griffith has begun meeting with the respective political parties ahead of the December 2 Local Government Elections.

In the first of his meetings, Griffith met with the Executive of the Congress of the People (COP) on Thursday at the Police Administration Building, Port of Spain.

The Commissioner sid it is important for the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) to know of planned political events so the police can maintain an adequate presence at political meetings and rallies, to ensure safety and security of candidates and supporters.

This meeting is also in keeping with ongoing efforts to meet and discuss security concerns with all 41 Members of Parliament (MP).

To date the CoP has concluded meetings with most of the MPs and their constituents.
