Gas truck robbed at gunpoint by man pretending to be customer

A Ramco gas truck was robbed at gunpoint on Thursday afternoon and the day’s sales were stolen.

According to police reports, at about 12.40 pm, the 30-year-old driver was proceeding south along Lopinot Road, Arouca, when he was signalled by a man to stop.

The man, police were told, was outside of a home with what appeared to be a small amount of cash in his hand and he appeared as though he wanted a tank of gas.

However, when the driver came to a stop, the man pulled out a firearm and pointed it at the driver and announced a hold-up.

The driver complied and handed over $1,800 in cash and the assailant fled from the scene.

The police were notified and PC Defour of the Arouca Police Station is continuing inquiries.
