Bail for grandpa charged with molesting grandkids, 10-yr-old neighbour
The 67-year-old grandfather, charged with with two counts of sexual penetration and two counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, was granted bail with surety in the sum of $50 thousand dollars.
The man, who will remain unidentified to protect the identity of the victims, appeared before the Sangre Grande Magistrates court today to answer to the charges.
Should he secure bail, the man would be released and sent back to his home just next door to where one of the alleged child victim's live.
To address this concern, the court ordered the man to have no interaction with any of the children and he is expected reappear in court on January 4.
It all started on Saturday, August 26 when a Valencia mother went looking for her 10-year-old daughter who frequently visited the 67-year-old neighbour’s house to play with the man’s grandchildren; two boys’ ages 7 and 9.
She made her way up the steps, where she found one of the children frantically looking for their clothes while the older man appeared to have been asleep in the bedroom.
Sources say the mother took her daughter home and proceeded to discipline her for participating in lewd activity with the other children.
However, the child, while being beaten, reportedly revealed that her neighbour sexually assaulted her and made his grandchildren and her engage in sexual activity.
A report was subsequently made to the Child Protection Unit and the man was arrested.
The incidents allegedly occurred between December 31, 2016 and August 25, 2017, as well as on August 26, 2017.
