Gruesome discovery: Woman's body found near quarry
Police are investigating after the body of a woman was found near the Tapana Valencia Quarry on Sunday morning.
The victim, police said, had not been identified.
The discovery was made around 7.00 am by people in the area.
A team of officers from the Eastern Division, led by Sgt Garcia, visited the scene.
The body, police said, appeared to have a wound to the chest resembling a stab injury, and the woman’s face also had marks of violence.
However, due to lack of blood at the scene, it is suspected that the woman may have been killed elsewhere and her body was dumped at the location.
Police described the woman as 5 feet, four inches in height and of African descent. She was wearing a wig, short pants and a red top. She appears to be in her mid-30s and has two tattoos on her shoulder: one with the word "Blunt" and the other a ganja leaf.
Anyone with information on the identity of the woman is urged to contact the Region II Homicide Bureau at 640-7815.
More on this as it becomes available.
