Guardian photographer Kristian De Silva was beaten while on assignment to cover A&V Oil and Gas compound in Penal.

De Silva was attempting to take photos of the compound when he was beaten by two men. 

De Silva told CNC3 that while he was doing his job on a public road, he was approached by a man in a van who attempted to knock him down. 

He said the man came out of the van and cuffed him in his face bursting his lip.

He claimed another man approached him from behind and also hit him.

De Silva's camera and glasses were destroyed during the attack.

De Silva said when he identified the organisation he was working for one of the aggressors said: "F the media".

De Silva said he intends to file a police report. 

A&V has been in the news lately for alleged oil fraud discovered during an audit of Petrotrin.
