Gun found in DJ booth in San Juan bar
Four men were scheduled to appear before a Port of Spain Magistrate on Tuesday after a loaded firearm and ammunition were found in a DJ booth at a bar in San Juan.
The weapon and ammo were found by officers of the North Eastern Division Task Force under the supervision of Sgt Simeon Guelmo.
The operation was coordinated by Snr Sup Balram, with assistance from ASP Doodai, Cpl Lavia, Cpl Pierre, Cpl Constantine, PC Hosaine, PC Nickie, PC Foy, and PC Mohammed.
The weapon, a .38mm revolver, was found along with 18 rounds of assorted ammunition around 2.30 am on Easter Sunday.
The officers made their way to a bar along First St, San Juan, where they had cause to search a man known to them.
The man gave information which led to a bar, and a Taurus Brasil .38 revolver with six rounds of .38mm ammunition was found in the DJ booth.
No one was arrested for the find.
Also acting on intelligence received at that location, the officers proceeded to Saddle Rd, San Juan, where they stopped and search a grey Suzuki car which was occupied by three individuals.
A search of the vehicle revealed that one of the men had hidden in his pants pocket, 12 rounds of .38mm ammunition.
The ammo had been placed in a sock.
As a result of the find, the man, as well as the other occupants, were arrested and taken into custody.
