Gun seized, two arrested during St Joseph anti-crime exercise

An exercise conducted in the St Joseph Police district between 4 am and 9 am on Sunday saw officers retrieve a gun and arrest two people.

According to reports, around 8.30 am officers executed a search warrant for firearms and ammunition at Farm Road, St Joseph. There, they found one Stoeber Cougar pistol fitted with a magazine containing three live rounds of 9mm ammunition.

A 40-year-old man of the said address along with a 35-year-old man of Barataria were detained in connection with the find.

Street checks were also done at 25 strategic locations in the district.

The exercise was coordinated by Senior Superintendent Ramkelawan and ASP Glodon; supervised by Inspector Greene and Sergeant Toorie; and included PC Gangaram, WPC Ameer-Ali, PC Sookoo and PC James.
