Guns found in Scarborough
Two firearms were recovered in Tobago on Tuesday afternoon in Scarborough.
According to police reports, at about 3:30 pm that day, officers received information from members of the public that two firearms had been observed stashed at a location along Government House Road, Scarborough.
A team of officers from the Scarborough Police Station, under the supervision Snr Sup Archie, acted on the information received and made their way to the location given.
The officers allegedly found and seized two weapons, namely a Taurus 9mm pistol loaded with two rounds of 9mm ammunition, as well as a .38mm revolver loaded with six rounds of .38mm ammunition. An additional five rounds of .38mm ammunition were found in a plastic bag near the weapons.
The illegal items were all seized and are expected to be sent for ballistic testing to determine if they can be linked to any recent reports of criminal activities in the jurisdiction.
No arrests were made during this exercise, however, officers are expected to pursue several leads with the aim of determining where the weapons and ammunition originated from.
