Gunshots ring out in Arouca; police increase patrols

Police patrols have increased in the Arouca community after rapid gunfire was heard on Monday morning.

Police said they received reports around 1.30 am Monday morning of multiple loud explosions in the vicinity of Savannah Trace, Garden Village in Arouca.

When officers arrived, they observed damages to property off the roadway.

However, they did not observe any persons engaged in or committing illegal activities.

Patrols are currently ongoing in the community under the supervisions of ASP Gyan and Insp Pitt.

Due to intelligence received from this operation, police were able to arrest a Trinicty couple about 2 hours later for possession of three rifles and a quantity of ammunition.

The weapons and ammunition were found at their home.
