President David Granger has urged Guyanese to come out and participate in the Regional Elections that will take place alongside the General Elections on March 2.
Speaking at an A Partnership for National Unity+Alliance for Change (APNU+AFC) coalition campaign rally in Damon Square, Anna Regina, Region 2, last night, Granger said the regional polls are a chance for Guyanese to stop the neglect taking place by leaders of regional bodies.
The opposition People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) won the 2018 regional polls by over 40,000 votes.
Granger said Region 2, which is held by the PPP/C is not living up to its true potential.
“When I saw what you all could produce, the coconut water, the rice, the timber, the fish, the juices, everything you could want, you can get out of this region. It is the food basket of Guyana,” he said.
Granger noted that Guyanese are leaving Region 2 because they are not given opportunities.
“If you want regional development you have to come over to the APNU+AFC side,” he stated.
