After facing a firestorm of sexual harassment accusations from some of Hollywood biggest female stars, former Miramax boss Harvey Weinstein’s wife is leaving him.
Georgina Chapman, 41, of the fashion house Marchesa, married Weinstein in 2007. They have two children together – India 7, and Dashiell 4.
Initially movie boss Harvey Weinstein declared that his wife would be standing by him and that he would be seeking counseling. But with more women speaking of sexual abuse by the hefty Weinstein, she may well have had a change of heart.
Earlier today both Angelina Jolie and Gwyneth Palthrow gave accounts of alleged indiscretions suffered at the hands of the Weinstein Company boss.
In a written statement Weinstein’s wife, British Georgina Chapman said : “ My heart breaks for all the women who have suffered tremendous pain because of these unforgiveable actions. I have chosen to leave my husband. Caring for my young children is my first priority and I ask the media for privacy at this time.”
Last week the New York Times published an article in which 8 women told of sexual advances by Weinstein and it was revealed that he has had to make a number of out of court cash settlements.
Before Chapman’s announcement, social media commentators blasted her for standing by and supporting a sex predator and remaining with him for financial gain.
