HDC employee arrested for marijuana possession

One man was arrested and a quantity of marijuana was seized by officers of the Special Operations Response Team (SORT) during an early morning exercise conducted in the Central district on Tuesday.

Acting on intelligence, officers intercepted a Volkswagen vehicle belonging to the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) with a single occupant along the northbound lane of the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway.

The vehicle was stopped near the Fens Furniture store around 7:24 am.

A search of the vehicle resulted in 128g of marijuana being discovered in several small plastic packets.

The suspect, a 37-year-old HDC employee of Harding Place, Cocorite, was arrested in connection with the find.

Investigations are ongoing.
