COVID-19 update: 24 more samples submitted

Update May 24, 2020, 10 pm:

The Health Ministry's 10 pm update indicated no major change, with the number of samples submitted still at 2,930.

The number of known positive cased remained at 116, and currently there are no COVID-19 patients warded at hospital.

The Ministry said 108 people were discharged to date and the death toll remains at eight.

On Saturday night health officials safely received six people from a cruise ship, who will be quarantined for two weeks at the UWI Debe Campus.

The Ministry of National Security said 53 more cruise workers were due to arrive Monday.  

The Ministry reminded the public to follow safety measures to reduce the spread of the virus such as sanitising spaces, washing hands and maintaining physical distance from others.

The Ministry will issue updates as needed via its official media channels.

 

Update May 24, 2020, 4 pm:

The Health Ministry said 24 more samples were submitted, according to a 4 pm update on Sunday.

This brings the total number of samples submitted to 2,930.

The number of known positive tests remains at 116 and the death toll remains at eight.

The Ministry said 108 people were discharged to date.

On Saturday night health officials safely received six people from a cruise ship, who will be quarantined for two weeks at the UWI Debe Campus.

May 24, 2020, 10 am:

The Health Ministry said a total of 2,906 COVID-19 samples have been submitted for testing to date.

In an update shared at 10 am on May 24, 2020, the Ministry said the number of unique patient tests completed stands at 2,489 with 417 repeated tests.

The number of positive samples remained at 116 with no patients currently at hospital.

The number of confirmed virus-related deaths stands at eight.

The Ministry will continue to provide updates as needed and urged the public to follow official channels.

The public is advised to continue to practice physical distancing and sanitary measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
