Heritage contractor abducted, robbed, released

A contractor at the Heritage Petroleum Company Limited was attacked and abducted from the company’s Guapo Field around 12.30 pm on Thursday.

The man was robbed of personal items and a company vehicle before being released in the Santa Flora area.

The company’s security personnel reportedly responded and a report was filed with the Police Service (TTPS).

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.

Meanwhile, Heritage Petroleum said it takes the safety and security of its employees, contractors and the public very seriously and has redoubled its efforts to minimize security risks by:

- Working closely with the contractor company to ensure that the employee’s emotional and physical well-being is given the necessary attention and care

- Assisting the TTPS with its investigation

- Increasing security patrols in its fields and connecting roads

- Implementing additional security measures

"As the company works assiduously towards addressing these security concerns, the public is asked to exercise extreme caution while traversing the Field Roads and to report any suspicious activity to the authorities. If you see something, say something."
