Heritage Petroleum: 3 barrels of oil spilled in Barrackpore

 

Heritage Petroleum said a leaking tank which was reported in Barrackpore has been contained and that approximately three barrels of oil. 

The company said in a statement that the incident took place on June 6, 2020, around 1.00 pm they received reports of an oil spill in the vicinity of Wilson Road Barrackpore.

Upon investigation, it was quickly discovered that the spill was emanating from a 4” pump line.

The company said the leak was isolated and clamped by 3:00 PM on the same day. Heritage has estimated that approximately three barrels of oil was spilled.

Heritage Petroleum also engaged the services of a contractor to clean up the spill. 

Additionally, booms have been reinforced along nearby watercourses to restrict migration of spillage to further downstream.

The company said agriculture lands in the vicinity which may have been impacted was visited by Company officials and the landowner.

Further discussions will take place on Monday 8th June between the two parties, Heritage said. 

The company said it has also notified officials from the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries of the incident and is continuing to keep them appraised of related containment and recovery efforts.
