Heritage Petroleum investigates another 'act of sabotage'

Heritage Petroleum Company Limited is investigating another act of sabotage.

In a statement, it said an upper valve was stolen at well #912 in Palo Seco, resulting in a mist of oil being sprayed onto a remote grassy area with less than three barrels of oil leaked.

Heritage Petroleum Company Limited said the well was discovered on Friday at 11.30 a.m. by HSE personnel and a response team was immediately dispatched.

A new upper valve was installed to contain the well pressure and prevent further leakage.

The act of sabotage was reported to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service at Santa Flora.

The company said this is the fourth act of sabotage at Heritage facilities in four weeks.

All regulatory agencies, including the Ministry of Energy and Energy Affairs; the Environmental Management Authority (EMA); and the Occupational Safety and Health Agency (OSHA) have been notified.
