Heritage Petroleum Company Limited has begun drilling on its first oil well.

It spud (started drilling) on well FC466 around 1:30 pm June 15.

In a statement, the company said the infill development well is expected to boost the existing field’s production by 70 to 100 barrels of oil per day (bopd).

Heritage said the well will be drilled to approximately 3,000 feet.

Heritage Land Leader, Derek Lall believes the development bodes well for the future of the company.

“This is an important milestone for us as it marks the first step in our development push. We believe that there are still significant hydrocarbon reserves to be developed within the acreage.

Heritage will continue seek the most efficient ways of extracting these reserves.”

Heritage plans to drill another six to eight wells by December 2019.
