High Court Judge held for drunk driving

A High Court Judge has been charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol.

The 43-year-old man was arrested Saturday night following an accident in St Clair.

According to reports, the justice was in the vicinity of Maraval Road, near a popular bar, when his SUV came into contact with another vehicle.

Officers from the Belmont Police Station responded, however, upon their arrival, they observed that there was an odour of alcohol on the breath of the high court judge.

As a result, he was administered a breathalyser test, and was found to be over the legal limit.

He was temporarily detained at the St Clair Police Station, however, he was eventually able to secure bail by a Justice of the Peace.

He is expected to appear before a Port of Spain Magistrate on Monday.
