Holiday camps for your teen

The July/August Vacation period is almost upon us and most parents are already making plans to keep their children occupied.

While there are countless camps geared for young children, parents with teens are often left to wonder what to do with their charges.

Of course, some would prefer to stay at home and play Fortnite all day long but luckily for them, there are some interesting camp options catering to them.

Here is a list of what we think are some interesting, educational and fun camps for your teens.

Academy of Baking and Pastry Arts

When: July 1 to 4

Age group: 16 and over

What: Adulting 101 in the kitchen. These courses are designed for the teen in your life is about to head out to college whether at home or abroad The course ranges from teaching them simple dishes such as Buffalo wings and Mac n Cheese to more complex dishes to impress the bae such as grilled pineapple shrimp skewers and pan seared steak with pan sauce.

Cost: Cost: $395 per day/ $1400 all days


Kalinda camp

When: July 15 to August 9

Age group: 5 to 17

What: Under the tutelage of the Bois Academy, your teen will learn martial arts, dance, visual arts and benefit from creative writing workshops.

Cost: $300 weekly. Partial scholarships are available for eligible students

The Diabetes Association of Trinidad and Tobago

When: August 16 to 18

Age Group: 12 to 17

What: This is a camp for teens who are overweight and may show signs of prediabetes. We have experts who will work with your child and you through nutrition training, exercise integration and stress management.

FaceForward Beauty Workshop

When: July 20 to August 24

Age group: 13 to 18

What: Teens will learn all about skin care routines, age appropriate make-up application techniques, hair care, hair styling, braiding, nails, manicure and pedicure, Mehndi and face painting in a fun, positive environment.

Cost: $400. Each class (Package Rate all classes - $2500)

Sante Studios Fitness Camp

When: July 8 to 26

Age group: 9 to 16

What: Teens will learn self-defense, dance, do indoor and outdoor workouts and learn etiquette and drama

Cost: $500 a week

Go for 10 Money and Business camp for teens

When: July 8 – 12 (Westmoorings), July 15 – 19 (St Augustine), July 22 - 26 (San Fernando)

Age group: 13 to 19

What: This course is designed to empower, educate and train up the next generation of entrepreneurs. The youth are introduced to the world of entrepreneurship with daily age-appropriate activities and at the end of the camp, all campers would get to participate in a pitch competition to win a $15,000 Coaching Program.

Horse and Pony Summer Camp

When: July 30 to August 1

Age group: 12 to 17

What: Apart from building horsemanship and teaching your teen to interact with horses, this camp will also build self-awareness, teach stress management and leadership

Trinidad and Tobago Youth Ambassadors Camp Excel

When: Cycle I: July 8 - July 26 and Cycle II: July 29 - August 16

Age group: Children 6-10, youth 11-16 

What: Study revision, sports, art and craft, life skills and character development
