Homeless man killed in Port-of-Spain
An unidentified man was killed in Port of Spain on Thursday morning.
The deceased, who was only known as Boxman, was found dead around 5 am along Prince Street, Port of Spain.
He had a wound to his head.
A length of wood with blood on it was found a short distance away, and was collected as evidence.
The body was viewed by a district medical officer and removed from the scene by Guides Funeral Home.
It will be kept at the Forensic Science Center in St James, pending identification.
Police were told by persons in the area that the deceased was a homeless man.
He was said to have engaged in an altercation with another homeless man, during which the assailant picked up a piece of wood and dealt the deceased a blow to the head.
The man collapsed on the street and died, while the assailant escaped.
Anyone with information which could lead to the identification of the deceased is asked to contact the nearest police station.
He is said to be a man of African descent, slim build, five foot seven inches tall, in his 50’s, dark brown complexion, sporting a greying rasta hairstyle, with a slight moustache and beard.
