House partially destroyed by fire at Temple Street, Arima

A house at Temple Street, Arima, was partially destroyed by a fire which occurred in the wee hours of Friday morning.

Police say there are ongoing criminal activities on the street following the shooting of Dominic Almarales and his wife, Desiree Layne, which they believe is the cause of the incident.

Reports say around 1:45 am, officers responded to a call about a house fire. On arrival, they found a concrete house partially ablaze.

The officers broke into the home in an attempt to save whoever might be inside. However, the house was empty.

They also managed to put the fire out using buckets of water.

Firefighters got to the scene and ensured that the house was no longer under threat.

Damage was caused to two doors, two glass windows and two bedrooms. A cost is yet to be ascertained.

The incident occurred near the scene of a report that a car was set on fire on Thursday.

Police say they have received information that these criminal acts are being perpetrated in retaliation for the recent homicide.
