Hydraulic hose bursts on T&T Spirit
Just three days after being brought back into operation on the inter-island sea bridge following the completion of major repairs and undergoing sea trials, the T&T Spirit has encountered berthing issues.
The T&T Spirit left Scarborough at 6.25am with 366 passengers and 129 vehicles.
However, on arrival into Port of Spain at 9.30 am the vessel was unable to berth as a hydraulic hose burst on the starboard side.
The Port Authority said, however, the hose was repaired and the passengers will be able to disembark within 10 minutes.
Speaking at the Post Cabinet briefing on Thursday, Works and Transport Minister Rohan Sinanan said the incident was not a major mishap and something that happens from time to time.
The part to carry out repairs was available on board the vessel, and the leak was fixed in a half hour.
Sinanan is expected to receive a report on the incident by Thursday afternoon.
