Imam released after police detention
Carapo Imam Hassan Ali was released from custody on Monday after he was arrested in connection with a report of kidnapping and assault.
Attorney Fareed Ali who represents the Imam, confirms that around 4:15 pm Ali was released from police custody and is at his Malabar home “resting comfortably”.
Ali was arrested on November 17 as a person of interest in the kidnapping of another man.
The latter made a report to the police concerning these allegations.
Up to Tuesday morning, three other male members of the Jamaat remained in police custody pending enquiries.
The men are ages 33, 36 and 41. They await the completion of identification parades.
According to the attorney, his clients have all maintained their innocence.
