Imbert: Close to 19,000 people have received Salary Relief Grants

Close to 19,000 citizens have been paid Salary Relief Grants to date at a total value of $26.3 million.

Finance Minister Colm Imbert provided the update on Twitter on Wednesday.

Imbert said over 51,000 applications were received.

"So far, we have received 51,098 applications for the Salary Relief Grant for persons within the NIS system, of which just over 1,600 are from Tobago. We have so far paid Grants to 18,899 persons, including 548 in Tobago for a total value of $26.3M."

The Salary Relief Grant allows citizens, who have lost income as a result of the implementation of COVID-19 measures, to be able to access $1500 per month over a three month period.
