Inmate found unresponsive in cell, dies at health facility

A 59-year-old inmate of the Maximum Security Prison died on Saturday.
The Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service has advised that around 7:15 am, convicted inmate, Deodath Mohammed, who was serving an 8-year sentence at the Maximum Security Prison for 'rape and malicious wounding', was found unresponsive in his cell.
In a statement on Sunday, it said Mohammed was immediately rushed to the Arima Health Facility, where he was attended to and pronounced dead at 8: 15 am.
His body bore no marks of violence.
Mohammed's next of kin was contacted by an assigned Welfare Officer, who informed of his passing.
The Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service has extended sincere condolences to his family and friends.
