Inquest ordered into stabbing death of Maraval man
An inquest has been ordered into the death of 43-year-old Gerard Kevin Pascal of Unity Lane, Maraval.
Pascal was stabbed to death at about midday on October 28, 2018, at his home.
A 30-year-old man was detained following the incident, however, he was subsequently released after he gave statements to the police.
According to police reports, at about midday that day, Pascal was at his home talking to his 30-year-old neighbour when they had a disagreement.
This quickly became physical, during which police were told that Pascal struck the 30-year-old man with a cutlass to the back of his neck.
It was said that the 30-year-old secured a knife which was nearby, and stabbed Pascal once in the chest.
Neighbours who heard the commotion notified the police and emergency health services and rushed the two wounded men were rushed to the Port of Spain General Hospital where they were treated.
Pascal, police said, died at about 3:00 pm that day.
