The Jamaat al Muslimeen has announced its support for Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley and the CARICOM community for its decision against interfering in the political affairs of Venezuela.
According to a release issued on Wednesday, Jamaat PRO Fuad Abu Bakr says the organization was happy for the CARICOM community’s recent visit to the United Nations with the hope of achieving a peaceful resolution to the situation.
He notes that Venezuela is Trinidad and Tobago’s closest neighbour with whom we share a good, long-standing relationship. He says as such, this relationship ought to be maintained.
“Therefore, we need to remember Jesus’s (Peace be upon him) teachings of ‘Love thy neighbour as thyself. Our hearts are with the people of Venezuela. Let Trinidad and Tobago be not divided at this time, but pray for a United, strong, Sovereign Venezuela”.
