Jamaican caught with weed during police exercise
A Jamaican national was among four persons held during police exercises on Saturday along the East Dry River, Port of Spain.
The four persons, said to be between the ages of 20 and 39, were held by officers of the Port of Spain CID during an anti-crime exercise in the district.
The officers, led by Snr Sup Ajith Persad, with assistance from Sup Hercules, ASP Parriman, and Inspector Powder, received information which led them to an apartment in the East Dry River Community where a search warrant was executed.
During this exercise, the officers allegedly arrested a 28-year-old man, who was wanted in connection with the daring daylight robbery at RT’s Jewellery in San Fernando last week.
Search warrants at other apartments in the area were also conducted and two suspects wanted in connection with shootings in the Port of Spain area were arrested.
The officers also allegedly found and seized five kilogrammes of compressed marijuana.
All four suspects are expected to appear before a Port of Spain Magistrate today.
More on this as it becomes available.
