Jamaican national robbed at gunpoint
A Jamaican national was robbed at gunpoint in Barataria.
The victim, a 38-year-old man who resides in Diego Martin, was plying his white Nissan Tiida for hire in Port of Spain when he was stopped by a man and a woman.
The couple asked to be taken to Barataria.
However, on nearing KFC by Sixth Avenue, the man pulled out a firearm and placed it to the head of the driver, telling him “not to make a scene”.
The assailant then ordered the driver to turn left, up onto Sixth Avenue.
The woman then placed her hands into the pocket of the driver and relieved him of his phone and $1,400 in cash.
The couple then exited the car near Third Street and made good their escape.
The victim notified police and officers from the Barataria Police responded.
Police have provided this description of the suspects:
Suspect 1, is a man of African descent, short, low haircut, stocky built, moustache, short goatee, clad in a dark coloured long sleeve shirt, brown 3/4 pants, with a black hat on his head.
Suspect 2 is a woman of African descent, dark skin in complexion, slim built, Rasta hairstyle all up in one, wearing a blue short dress and white slippers.
If anyone has information which can lead to the arrest of the suspects, they are asked to contact the Barataria Police Station, or they can give the information anonymously at 555 or 800-TIPS.
