High Court Judge Kevin Ramcharan has appeared in the Port of Spain Magistrates' Sixth Court charged with driving under the influence or alcohol.

Justice Ramcharan was arrested on Saturday night following a motor vehicular accident along the Saddle Road, Maraval, as he failed a breathalyzer test.

Ramcharan was granted bail that night by a Justice of the Peace in the sum of $15,000.

When the matter was called on Monday morning in the sixth court, Justice Ramcharan was represented by defence attorney Keith Scotland.

However, he was not called upon to enter a plea, as the Prosecution informed the court that they intended to make an amendment to the charge against the high court judge.

As a result, Scotland requested an adjournment for the legal team to be given an opportunity to review this new development.

After further submissions, the matter was adjourned to July 3.

More on this as it becomes available.
