Kamla: Wear your face masks, sanitise and vote

Opposition Leade Kamla Persad-Bissessar urged the public to wear face masks, sanitise and go out to vote on election day 'very early'.

In  a statement issued the day before election day on Sunday, she said the Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) has put the necessary safety measures in place:

'I hope today meets you energized and DETERMINED to go out in your MASSIVE numbers tomorrow and VOTE UNC. Do not be afraid— the EBC has made the voting process COVID-19 SAFE.'

'Get your ID Cards, wear your masks, sanitize and go to your polling stations VERY EARLY.'

She said she was on the ground in several of the UNC's 'many motorcades' on Saturday:

'Up to yesterday, I was on the ground in our many motorcades across the country. Indeed, the COVID-19 pandemic has made this a very different, restricted campaign season. Still, it has been one of the most inspiring times of my political life. I have met many people from all over T&T, who have all pledged their loving support.'

Persad-Bissessar said during her career she broke 'every political glass ceiling' and faced malicious lies:

'For over three decades, she broke every single political glass ceiling, becoming the first female Attorney General, Opposition Leader, Political Leader and Prime Minister of T&T. She pioneered laws and policies to bring equality for our children, youths, poor single mothers, the disabled, elderly and every other dispossessed sector in our nation.'

'She faced unprecedented vicious, malicious, unceasing lies and attacks on her character and family, but never let it deter her. And to this day, she still stands and fights against a destructive, corrupt, inhumane regime that has, time and again, brought our country and its people to their knees. This is you candidate, Kamla Persad-Bissessar.'

She advised the public to make the 'right decision to vote UNC':

'Since last October, I presented the UNC’s comprehensive, innovative National Transformational Economic Plan to rebuild and restore T&T’s economic and social stability via lower taxes and creating 50,000 jobs by 2025. ('

'So tomorrow, when you make the RIGHT DECISION TO VOTE UNC, know that ‘every little thing is gonna be alright’ once again in our beautiful T&T. We— ALL the people— will rise up together again at long last, and ‘smile with the Rising Sun’ as it restores progress and glory to our beloved nation once more! May God bless, guide and keep us all, always.'
