La Vega Estate saddened by drowning of radio announcer
La Vega Estate says it is saddened by the drowning of radio announcer Justin Dookhi.
He drowned at the La Vega Estate in Gran Couva on Sunday.
Dookhi, who worked at Sweet 100.1FM, was attempting to swim across a pond, when he got into difficulties and went under water.
His body was removed from the water, however, attempts to resuscitate him proved futile.
La Vega Estate has extended condolences to his family and friends.
“The management and staff of La Vega are deeply saddened by the tragic drowning of Mr. Justin Dookhi and wish to offer our deepest condolences to his family, friends, students, colleagues and loved ones at this very difficult time,” it said in a Facebook on Monday.
Meanwhile, Holy Name Convent POS says it is also deeply saddened by the passing of Dookhi.
He was a Math teacher at the school for over 16 years.
Holy Name Convent POS said Dookhi made a mark on the school by his immense intelligence, his high energy and his unmatched sense of humour and spirit.
It said that he served as football coach and was the driver behind the formation of the cricket team in its present incarnation.
The school added that his passing has left a void not only at Holy Name Convent but to the nation as a while.
"We have lost one of our most brilliant and talented young men who believed in building community and giving of his talent and expertise for the building up of others.
Our sincerest condolences go out to his family and to the many people who hold him dear."
