Labourer, 23, granted $210K bail for robbery offences

A 23-year-old labourer of La Romaine was granted $210,000 bail with a surety after pleading not guilty before a Siparia Magistrate on two robbery charges.
Jamaal Matthews appeared virtually before Siparia Magistrate Aden Stroude on Monday charged with two counts of robbery with aggravation in connection with two incidents earlier this month.
Matthews was arrested last Thursday
by Cpl Thompson and PCs Kunjal and Baboolal of the Oropouche Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
It followed extensive enquiries by the officers into reports of robbery with aggravation at Simple Supermarket, Southern Main Road, South Oropouche on August 2, and at Three Roads Bar, Mon Desir, Delhi Road, Fyzabad on August 4.
He was subsequently jointly charged by PCs Kunjal and Baboolal.
Matthews is scheduled to reappear in court on September 21.
