Labourer in court for sexual assault of teenaged girl

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said a 34-year-old labourer was due to appear in court on Monday to answer to four counts of sexual penetration of a 15-year-old girl.

In a statement issued Monday (August 3), the TTPS said the labourer, originally from Morvant but currently residing in Tobago, was due to appear before a Scarborough Magistrate on Monday after he was held by officers of the Tobago Division.

The TTPS said on August 1, 2020, the Child Protection Unit (CPU) carried out a sting operation coordinated by W/Supt (Ag) George, ASP Nowbutt, Sgt Miller and executed by Cpl (Ag) Mc Millan and PC Mitchell.

The team was given assistance by officers of the Emergency Response Patrol (ERP).

The man was arrested after an investigation was launched by PC Mitchell of the Tobago Division CPU surrounding the alleged assault of a 15-year-old girl, who alerted officers to the assaults on November 16, 2019.

The suspect, of Mon Repos, Morvant, who resides in Mt St George, Tobago, was subsequently arrested.
