Lara receives honorary doctorate from Indian University

West Indies cricket great Brian Lara has been given an honorary doctorate by the DY Patil University in India.
The news is welcome following Lara's hospitalisation at a Mumbai
The former captain made the announcement via his Instagram page on Thursday morning.
"What an amazing experience visiting the @dypatiluniversity Campus today and meeting Dr. Vijay D Patil and seeing his work across sports, education and healthcare was phenomenal. From the DY Patil Sports Stadium, one of the great stadia that I have visited and the @dypatilsportsacademy to the visit to the @dypatiluniversity Medical Simulation Lab was extremely fascinating," Lara wrote.
"I am honoured! An Honorary Doctorate bestowed on me by the University. WOW." he added.
"I am truly delighted to join the community @dypatiluniversity. It was a pleasure interacting with the students and staff and remembering the good old days.
Here's wishing everyone at DY Patil all the love and luck for their future endeavours and may they continue to do the great work they've been doing," Lara said.
The University, which was founded in 2002, is located in Navi Mumbai in the state of Maharashtra.
The news is welcome following Lara's hospitalisation in Mumbai almost two weeks ago for chest pains.
Lara is currently in India as an analyst for the official broadcasters of World Cup 2019.
