Laventille on lock-down after shots fired at police vehicle

Police had Laventille on 'lock-down' while carrying out police exercises after a police vehicle came under fire on Wednesday afternoon.

While information is still coming in, the incident was said to have taken place at about 1:00 pm on Wednesday.

According to reports, a police vehicle was proceeding along the Priority Bus Route (PBR) when upon reaching the vicinity of Pashley Street, the occupants heard several loud explosions.

Thankfully, there were no reports of injuries.

However, the head of the Port of Spain Division was immediately notified and the area was placed "under lockdown" as officers combed the area, searching for the culprits.

Even maxi-taxis utilizing the PBR were searched as officers looked for suspects who could be linked to the incident.

More on this as it becomes available.
