Lok Jack launches new masters programme in business intelligence
On Wednesday 6 June, the Arthur Lok Jack Global School of Business launched a new academic programme: The Master of Business Intelligence and Data Analytics (MBIDA).
The Business School says the strategic intent is to positively reshape business and society, as such, their programmes are designed to meet the emerging demands of the business community and academia.
The gap between technology and business brought about an opportunity to supply the market with a practical programme designed to prepare students with the knowledge, skills and tools needed to become competent and multi-faceted data scientists and business analysts.
After special greetings from David Dulal-Whiteway, Chief Executive Officer, UWI-ALJGSB, the featured guests, Trevor Deane, CEO of Data to Decisions Ltd, Lerielle Cole, Marketing Manager, Caribbean Jobs and Derwin Howell, Executive Director, RBL, presented on the relevance of Data and Analytics in Trinidad and Tobago.
Deane, Cole and Howell discussed challenges faced by their respective companies and explained how the use of or lack of data analytics impacted the outcome.
Following these edifying presentations, Professor Gour Saha, Programme Director, MBIDA, took a deep dive into the intricacies of the Master of Business Intelligence and Data Analytics programme.
An engaging question and answer segment with the featured guests and audience members further brought insights into the importance of data analytics to business and highlighted its applicability to various sectors.
The MBIDA launch event closed with an interactive networking event.
