Magnitude 4.9 earthquake rocks North Trinidad

A magnitude 4.9 earthquake shook North Trinidad and Grenada shortly before 10 pm on Tuesday.

According to the UWI Seismic Research Centre (SRC), the quake struck at latitude 11.10N, longitude 62.13W at a depth of 23 km. 

The SRC said the quake struck 84 km NW of Port-of-Spain, 107 kn NW of Arima and 113 km SW of St George's Grenada. 

The SRC said, however, that this is only a preliminary result located by a seismological computational system, and which is yet to be reviewed by a seismologist.

New and additional information may be provided when the data is analysed.
