Malabar shooting leaves one dead, two injured

A 20-year-old man was shot dead in Malabar while liming with a group of friends Saturday night.

The deceased has been identified as Isiah Rampersad, of Banyan Boulevard, Malabar.

According to police reports, Rampersad was liming with a group of friends in the area, when around 9.20 pm a silver Nissan B14 motor vehicle pulled up alongside them.

One man exited the car and, without warning, he opened fire on the group.

The assailant then re-entered the vehicle and escaped.

In the aftermath, three persons were shot and rushed to the Arima District Health Facility.

However, Rampersad was pronounced dead at 9.40 pm.

The other two victims, Jeriel Samuel, 23, of Tirite Lane, Malabar, and Shakir George, 20, of Belle View Avenue, Arima Old Road, Arima, received gunshot injuries to their legs and arms.

Both men are still warded in a serious, but stable condition.

A total of 15 spent shells were recovered on the scene.
