Man, 21, killed in a "love triangle" dispute
A 21-year-old man is dead after he was allegedly gunned down by his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend.
The deceased has been identified as Amando Hernandez of Pipiol Road, Santa Cruz.
According to reports, Hernandez was liming at his girlfriend’s Cantaro Village, Santa Cruz, home on Sunday when around 4pm he was confronted by the ex-boyfriend.
The suspect, who was said to be from Petit Valley, allegedly told Hernandez to leave the area, before he himself walked away.
However, about an hour later, the suspect returned to the home, armed with a firearm.
At the time, Hernandez was outside the house.
Several explosions were heard and the suspect was then seen fleeing the scene on foot.
Hernandez was found in a drain outside the home, bleeding from injuries to his head and chest.
The police and emergency health services were notified, however, Hernandez succumbed to his injuries.
Several spent shells were recovered at the scene.
Hernandez, police said, was not known to them.
However, they said the suspect was well known to them as having been linked to several robbery and firearm related offences.
Armed with this knowledge, LoopTT was told, an arrest was said to be imminent.
