Man, 62, fined $1800 for false Certificate of Insurance

A Princes Town man who uttered a forged Guardian General certificate of insurance has been fined TT$1800 or he must serve four months’ hard labour.

62-year-old Ramchan Ramdass of Perry Young Road, Princes Town, pled guilty to the charge of uttering a forged document when he appeared before Senior Magistrate Cherril-Anne Antoine at the San Fernando 1st Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

The charge follows a report made by Ramdass to the Mon Repos Police Station, of a road traffic accident he was involved in along the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway on March 17.

While conducting enquiries, it was discovered that the insurance certificate was fraudulent.

Ramdass was subsequently arrested and charged by WPC Navita Ramsawak of the Mon Repos Police Station on May 4.
