Man allegedly chops himself in the head during altercation
Police said a man was warded at hospital after allegedly chopping himself by accident during a fight.
According to police reports, the 22-year-old man was rushed to the Port of Spain General Hospital after sustaining a chop wound to the head, following a confrontation with a man known to him.
The police were told however that the wound was self-inflicted.
Besson Street police were told that around 8.00 pm on Sunday night, the 22-year-old was at his home along Mango Alley, Laventille, when he got into a confrontation over money owed with an 18-year-old man known to him.
The confrontation, police were told, became physical, during which the older man secured a cutlass and swung it at the 18-year-old.
However, the 18-year-old flung himself out of the way of the blade, and police were told cutlass swung all the way around, and hit the alleged attacker in his own head.
After realizing that an injury had occurred, the parties stopped their fight and rushed the 22-year-old for medical treatment.
He remained warded in a serious condition.
More on this as it becomes available.
