A Wallerfield man found in possession of three firearms and a quantity of ammunition is due to appear before the Arima Magistrates’ Court on Friday to answer to the charges.
The 19-year-old was arrested during an anti-crime exercise in the Arima district on Wednesday.
During the exercise, officers stopped and searched a man who appeared to be carrying a firearm along Mexico Road, Wallerfield.
The search resulted in officers finding two homemade shotguns loaded with ten rounds of 12-gauge cartridges, a silver Smith and Wesson revolver containing six rounds of .38mm ammunition along with three shotgun barrels, two shotgun butts, several springs, triggers and hammers of various sizes.
The exercise was spearheaded by Snr Supt Michael Daniel and included officers of the Northern Division Task Force (NDTF) Area East and Canine Unit.
