Man arrested after attempting to break into house from rooftop

A 43-year-old man is expected to appear before a Port-of-Spain Magistrate after he was caught on top of the roof of a Petit Valley home with tools to commit a robbery.

The suspect was held by officers of the Western Division led by Sgt Perry and Cpl Henry, including WPC Almerales and PC Balchan among several others.

According to reports, around 4 pm on Thursday, officers were on patrol in the area when they received information of a housebreaking.

The officers made their way to Apple Blossom Avenue, Petit Valley, where they observed the suspect on top of a roof of one of the homes. The officers also observed a hole in the roof.

On seeing the lawmen, the suspect attempted to flee the scene.

The accused jumped to the ground, however, he was quickly apprehended.

He was taken to the St James hospital to be treated for minor injuries as a result of the fall.

Sgt Perry is continuing inquiries.
