Man arrested with homemade shotgun

A man was held and a homemade shotgun seized following keen observation by police officers in the Marabella district yesterday. 

At 3pm yesterday, Cpl Burke and PCs Cooper and Ramlal of the Marabella Police Station, were on mobile patrol along Maharaj Avenue, Marabella, where they had cause to stop the driver of a blue Mitsubishi Galant. 

During a search, the officers found one homemade shotgun on the backseat of the vehicle. 

The 44-year-old man was immediately arrested for possession of a firearm and taken to the Marabella Police Station. 

He is expected to appear before a San Fernando Magistrate today to answer to the charge.
