Man beaten, thrown off cliff

A San Juan man was found some 200 feet down a precipice off the North Coast Road on Friday morning.

The victim has been identified as Rueben Prout of Real Street, San Juan.

Police said that around 7 am on Friday, they received intelligence that persons had heard a man calling for help off the roadway.

Officers from the North Eastern Division, under the supervision of Snr Sup Phillip, were dispatched to the location to verify the reports.

When they arrived, they found the victim lying on his stomach.

He had several wounds to his head and upper body.

The victim told police that on Wednesday night he had been assaulted by two men he knew, and then thrown off the cliff.

He claimed he had been there since.

The injured man was then taken for medical treatment at the Port of Spain General Hospital.

He reportedly suffered multiple lacerations, broken bones, and fractures.

However, he is expected to make a full recovery.

Warrants have been drawn up for the men who were identified as his attackers, and arrests are imminent.
