Man breaches protection order, makes threatening call to woman

A man was arrested and charged for breaching a protection order.

According to reports, a 29-year-old woman of Chaguanas was at her work place in Trincity when she received a phone call from a man who threatened her.

She became fearful for her life and recorded the conversation.

On June 16, she made a report to the Freeport Police Station and the matter was transferred to the Gender Based and Violence Unit (GBVU).The woman was interviewed and a statement recorded.

She also produced a protection order dated 2018.

Inquiries revealed that the actions of the man amounted to a breach of the protection order.

On June 20, police went to the man’s home at Carapichaima where they arrested and later charged him for breaching the protection order.

He appeared before the Chaguanas Magistrates’ Court on June 22, where he pleaded not guilty, and the matter was transferred to the Tunapuna Magistrates’ Court to July 20.
